getgist

Today, we’ll show you what Gist is all about – the learning curve, the ease of use, customer reviews, overall rating, and everything you need to know to make an educated decision on whether to purchase this tool or not.

What is GetGist?

GetGist’s homepage

Gist is an automated customer experience, sales, customer support, and CRM platform. Gist offers live chat with a solid user interface, which makes it stand out among similar email outreach tools.

Top features

GetGist offers a range of tools for businesses that want to communicate with their customers. Here’s just a portion of their features:

  • Business messenger with lead qualification and routing
  • Collaborative inbox with all channels in one place
  • Automated outbound messages with triggers for specific channels
  • Collaborative email marketing with a shared inbox
  • Drip email campaigns
  • Broadcast, automated, and scheduled emails, email funnels, cross-sell and upsell emails

With one Gist account, you can engage your existing customers, create emails to reach new potential customers, and streamline your communication on one platform so your team can find all their leads and messages in one place.

Pricing plans

The Free forever plan lets you chat with customers on your website. You get the live chat and team inbox features, unlimited conversation history, and web, email, and push notifications. The meeting and calendar integration are there and the Android and iOS mobile app.

The Professional plan is $29 per month and comes with five seats. You get everything from the Free plan, plus email forwarding, Facebook and Twitter integrations, in-app messages, a public knowledge base, automated chat triggers, sharing articles in conversations, a lead qualification bot, chat transcripts, satisfaction ratings, and a Zapier integration.

The Premium plan is $99 per month. It gets you everything in Professional plus 1:1 messages, custom chatbots, voice and video calls, surveys, product tours, live view, automated meeting scheduling, automated assignment rules, conversion analytics, roles and permissions, Salesforce and Hubspot integration, and an unbranded messenger.

What users are saying

The advanced features require a lot of learning, especially for new users.

“GistApp’s user interface is generally intuitive, but some of the more advanced features may have a steeper learning curve for new users. Additional tutorials or in-app guidance for these features could be beneficial.” Source

The mobile app is less than stellar, as one user states:

“The mobile app needs serious attention. It’s pretty poor. When you get notified about a chat, you can click on the notification to open the app. Then you type your response to the customer/client … click enter to send … and it says it sends and then clears your entire response. So, you have to force quit the app, open it up and find the message you want to reply to … to be able to chat with the customer/client. That’s it. There’s only the option to chat or close the conversation. So, if you need to use a mobile app for chat, Gist is not your app. Beyond that, there aren’t too many downsides to this application. I wouldn’t say that developers are fairly quick at implementing new teachers and I enjoy using this app. I do wish deliverability % was slightly higher, but that’s just a matter of time.” Source

The email deliverability is not that great. Some users complain about feature bloat and that all of those handy features take quite some time to find.

“I am not a veteran user of Gist, but so far, my challenges are: 1. Understanding errors when importing (there are not enough details on these errors) 2. Upgrading the subscription and contacts (I had to reach out to Support to upgrade from Professional All-In-One for 1k to Premium AIO for 5k; unable to do this from the settings) 3. Migration services are not included under Professional. I tried to use this service and am still waiting to hear from support, as it’s apparently only included under Premium Yearly. Couldn’t find the Premium Yearly option.” Source

Top GetGist alternatives to automate your company’s communication

While the live chat feature is handy when communicating with customers, the reality is that this platform does not do all aspects of customer communication equally well. Luckily, we have a few tools that might fit the bill better.

Conclusion

GetGist can help you navigate customer communications well. However, it’s not really easy to use and some features in the app require some polishing to be useful. So why bother with a half-finished tool when you can get something that just works out of the box?

With Woodpecker, you have all the communication tools you need in one place. Specifically, you can master cold email and turn it into a channel for generating revenue.
