How does it work?

What is the mechanism behind the ‘Unsubscribe’ link?

  • When your prospect clicks the link, Woodpecker stops scheduled emails and planned follow-ups for this recipient.
  • At the same time, your prospect’s status is changed to OPT-OUT and the #UNSUBSCRIBED tag is added to your prospect’s data.
  • You can place the ‘unsubscribe’ link in any place in your email copy, also in the signature.
  • To customize the ‘unsubscribe’ link, edit the text of your link.
  • Style your text by changing the type and size of the font you use.
  • If you wish, although it isn’t advisable, you can change the OPT-OUT status. This can be done only manually.

Please note:

Make sure the unsubscribe feature will work as intended:

  • Always use the snippet ‘UNSUBSCRIBE’ to add the ‘unsubscribe’ link (in every email in the sequence).
  • Simply copying the link from the content of other emails in your campaign (even if it is a previous email in the sequence) will not work, and the prospect will not be able to unsubscribe properly.

Also, don’t worry about contacting twice those recipients who opted out. While adding prospects to a campaign, Woodpecker verifies your list and checks against people who unsubscribed. Prospects with the status OPT-OUT or BLACKLISTED cannot be added to a new campaign.
