ESP matching in Woodpecker works by matching your mailboxes connected to the campaign with the relevant prospects’ providers. Right now, it works by matching accounts from Google and Microsoft. Thanks to this, you have insight into how your infrastructure performs for specific audiences.
Keep in mind that only email accounts connected with OAuth will be marked accordingly. If you choose to connect your account with the “Other” option, your email account will be marked as “Other” and won’t be appropriately matched to your recipients.
How to set it up?
In the campaign edit mode, click on the gear icon for campaign settings. Then, click on the “Advanced settings” tab, where you’ll find more options for your campaign setup.
To enable automatic matching of email providers, check this option and continue with setting up the campaign.
In case the matching fails, you’ll be able to see a number of such prospects and their provider under the "To Check" tab of your campaign.
In the Prospects tab of the campaign, these prospects will be assigned the “Paused (ESP Matching)” status.
Managing prospects with the "PAUSED (ESP MATCHING)" status
All prospects can have their status changed in your campaign's Prospects tab. If the sender email still won't match their ESP, they will be assigned the "PAUSED (ESP MATCHING)" status again.
If you want to contact them anyway, you can either:
change your sender email address in the campaign so the ESP matches,
disable ESP matching in the campaign settings.
After doing either of those options, change these prospects' statuses to "ACTIVE".
Email provider detection and filtering
If you have enabled ESP matching in your campaign, Woodpecker could be verifying it in the background while you edit the campaign. After adding the prospects, Woodpecker will automatically check your prospect's providers and notify you how many of them were matched to your email sender's account.
If you don't get a full match, you have the option to choose another mailbox for sending that matches them. If you don't have another domain, you can easily purchase it via Woodpecker.
In the main Prospects tab, as well as the one in the campaign edit mode, you can filter the prospects by the email provider. If you don't have such information, there's an option to detect them with Woodpecker.
Select prospects without email provider information and choose the three dots icon, which will show the "Detect email provider" option. Information about the provider will be visible in the “Email provider” column.
You can also filter your database by those email providers: Google, Microsoft, Other, and, if not found, "No data".
