It may be something totally different.\u00a0They may have googled you and they don&#8217;t like the way you position your brand online. I wrote a blog post on reviewing your online presence, you can read it here:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/woodpecker.co\/blog\/cold-email\/brand-audit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">How Should I Take Care of My Brand Online Before Email Outreach? &gt;&gt;<\/a><\/p>\n<p>But there&#8217;s something more that you can do to increase the persuasiveness of your <span id=\"urn:enhancement-330bab98\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">email<\/span> campaign. That thing is content marketing.\u00a0A great content can make you more persuasive, and in turn, it increases the number of replies you get.<\/p>\n<p>Producing content is an inbound tactic, plus, it&#8217;s a domain of your marketing department.\u00a0Nevertheless, a <span id=\"urn:enhancement-d28e191\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">sales<\/span> team can also contribute. Or at least,\u00a0inform the marketing team what kind of content may\u00a0increase the chance of getting a reply to their cold <span id=\"urn:enhancement-8a8bb004\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">email<\/span>. <span data-sheets-root=\"1\">One of the most effective ways to do this is to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloghandy.com\/\">add a blog to your website<\/a>, where sales and marketing can jointly publish content that directly supports common objections and questions prospects raise.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>How great content makes you more persuasive?<\/h2>\n<p>There are several ways in which content can increase the likelihood of establishing a long-term <span id=\"urn:enhancement-69aa8166\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">business<\/span> relationship with somebody.<\/p>\n<h3>Describe your workflow<\/h3>\n<p>Cold <span id=\"urn:enhancement-87972976\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">email<\/span> campaigns contain short messages. They are meant to start a conversation. Therefore, there&#8217;s not a lot of room for long\u00a0storytelling there. The caveat is, however, that for you to gain a prospect&#8217;s trust, you need to show that you&#8217;re worthy of that.<\/p>\n<p>The easiest way of showing that you&#8217;re worthy of trust is transparency. You may get transparent through the written word.<\/p>\n<p>Show your true colors by describing how you work at your company. Describe the problems you encountered and how you deal with them. Or describe a recurring problem your customers face and how you recommend they deal with it.<\/p>\n<p>As a <span id=\"urn:enhancement-ecd02543\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">sales rep<\/span>, you have\u00a0limited time for writing. However, you don&#8217;t have to write the whole piece if you don&#8217;t have time. Cooperate with the marketing department. Set up a quick chat with your content writer and communicate what you want to accomplish with your writing. Or leave them an audio recording. Write a quick <span id=\"urn:enhancement-5357c8d4\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">email<\/span>. That piece of content will show them how your solution fits into their workflow and how they can benefit from using it.\u00a0Since they\u00a0read a point of view of somebody outside of your company, they are more likely to\u00a0trust it. Still, the case study is on your blog. So what to do to make it the most compelling one?<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Write it in an interview form<\/strong> &#8211; Prepare a set of questions and <span id=\"urn:enhancement-639779c0\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">email<\/span> them to those willing to do a case study. Make sure those are open-ended questions,\u00a0that is the ones starting with why, where, how, what. You get a lot of useful information by asking those type of questions. That&#8217;s how we do it at <span id=\"urn:enhancement-77bea7dd\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">Woodpecker<\/span>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Start\u00a0by introducing the company<\/strong> &#8211; Write a couple of sentences about what they do. Write something about the founders and how they established the company. End this part by telling the readers where the company\u00a0is now.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ask them to\u00a0describe the problem they had and how they fixed it with your solution<\/strong> &#8211; Try to steer the conversation in a way of\u00a0identifying the problem the customer felt &gt; how it impacted their <span id=\"urn:enhancement-65cb11f4\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">business<\/span> &gt; what your solution did for them. Of course, you&#8217;ll do that by asking them questions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Edit\u00a0as little as you can<\/strong> &#8211; Let their style of writing show. Try not to intervene much. That way\u00a0the customer study will feel more natural. Just fix the spelling errors and punctuation marks if there are any.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Those are the basic tips I have for you. Having their name on your blog\u00a0shows that you know your industry well enough. The headline featuring a thought leader is very clickable.<\/p>\n<h2>Persuasive content\u00a0doesn&#8217;t need to be\u00a0written<\/h2>\n<p>If you don&#8217;t feel comfortable writing, don&#8217;t force yourself to do this. There are other options, such as creating a podcast or video blog.<\/p>\n<h3>Try podcasting<\/h3>\n<p>For example,\u00a0many <span id=\"urn:enhancement-91ea853c\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">B2B<\/span> companies have tried podcasting with great success. And a lot of marketers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesaleslion.com\/podcasting-blogging-trust-engagement-loyalty\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">swear by it over the\u00a0written word<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There are many advantages to hosting a podcast. Content in audio form builds a greater rapport than words. After all, prospects can hear\u00a0the voice of a person who reached out to them. Moreover, it&#8217;s convenient to listen to the podcast. You can multitask while doing this.<\/p>\n<p>However, there are also drawbacks to hosting a podcast. The first one is you need to devote a few hours each week to record and edit it. You need to be consistent so you can&#8217;t do it from time to time. Plus, you need special equipment. The video is more dynamic and if you have a gift for that, go for it. There are many <span id=\"urn:enhancement-c6cd990a\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">B2B<\/span>\u00a0companies that find success in doing that. Take <a href=\"https:\/\/moz.com\/blog\/category\/video\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Moz<\/a> or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.priceintelligently.com\/blog\/all\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Price Intelligently<\/a> as examples.<\/p>\n<p>We haven&#8217;t explored the power of video blogging here at <span id=\"urn:enhancement-4c90dcd0\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">Woodpecker<\/span>, although we do have a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCNN9wM55yaNI-KEZCfh66_A\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">YouTube channel<\/a>. From my perspective, I&#8217;d suggest you publish your video content on your blog first and then upload it to YouTube. It&#8217;s better to have it safe and sound on your own platform, so you&#8217;re in full control of the content you created. Plus, social media channels come and go. But remember that what matters most is the actual copy of your email campaign, its schedule, deliverability settings, and\u00a0the group you target.
