Today, I&#8217;d like to present you one of our webinars, and at the same time, teach you more about GDPR.<\/p>\n<p>The final call for being GDPR compliant\u00a0falls on May 25, 2018. So, about 3 weeks left until\u00a0you can pay a fine for ignoring the regulation. Since many of you\u00a0process\u00a0the personal data of EU citizens, <span id=\"urn:enhancement-7cc680b2\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">Woodpecker<\/span> committed itself to educate you about the General Data Protection regulation.<\/p>\n<p>Cathy wrote a huge blog post in which she explained <a href=\"https:\/\/woodpecker.co\/blog\/cold-email\/general-data-protection-regulation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">what GDPR is<\/a> and its influence on cold <span id=\"urn:enhancement-f8265a1a\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">email<\/span> campaigns. She also published <a href=\"https:\/\/woodpecker.co\/blog\/cold-email\/gdpr-faq\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">GDPR FAQ<\/a>, a list of questions we got from our customers who struggled to understand the changes in the law. The Woodpecker\u00a0team invited newsletter subscribers, app users and people from Quora for a series of webinars about GDPR.<\/p>\n<p>I want to show you the fragments of the first GDPR webinar. The Woodpecker support crew still gets asked about GDPR a lot so those bits may clear things out for you. We hosted the webinar a month or so ago. Luke, our Growth Specialist, interviewed Margaret, who&#8217;s responsible for GDPR at <span id=\"urn:enhancement-53aa1ebe\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-organization\">Woodpecker<\/span>. She&#8217;s also the Head of Customer Support.<\/p>\n<h2>What did we cover in Woodpecker GDPR Basics webinar?<\/h2>\n<p>If you wish to watch the full webinar. Some small businesses are thinking about hiring somebody from outside to help them with implementing changes to how they handle personal data at their company. But is it the only approach?<\/p>\n<div class=\"iframe-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"max-width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/vg-F57hY9Dc\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>So should you use an external help to make your company GDPR compliant? You don&#8217;t need to. First things first, spend some time to categorize personal data you process at your company. If you feel that there&#8217;s a danger that someone from outside may access the personal data you keep, you need to assess it and reduce the danger.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"How\" tabindex=\"-1\">How can I conduct a Risk Assessment at my company?<\/h4>\n<p>When you process sensitive data, you need to assess\u00a0the risk of data leak or mismanagement at your company. Margaret tells you how to do that in the clip below.<\/p>\n<div class=\"iframe-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"max-width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xbpswHUCb-0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Don&#8217;t get scared by the Risk Assessment. It&#8217;s doable. Spend 2-3 days identifying potential threats to the personal data breach. Think about what you can do if a situation like that occurs. And assess how much harm it could cause. <span data-sheets-root=\"1\" data-sheets-value=\"{&quot;1&quot;:2,&quot;2&quot;:&quot;Consider implementing preventative measures such as privileged access management.&quot;}\" data-sheets-userformat=\"{&quot;2&quot;:5057,&quot;3&quot;:{&quot;1&quot;:0},&quot;9&quot;:0,&quot;10&quot;:2,&quot;11&quot;:3,&quot;12&quot;:0,&quot;15&quot;:&quot;Arial&quot;}\">Consider implementing preventative measures such as <a href=\"https:\/\/heimdalsecurity.com\/blog\/privileged-access-management-pam\/\">privileged access management<\/a>.<\/span> There&#8217;s nothing complicated about it.<\/p>\n<h4><a class=\"gdpr-popupclick\" href=\"https:\/\/woodpecker.co\/bonuses\/gdpr-checklist\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Download\u00a0GDPR Compliance Checklist &gt;&gt;<\/a><\/h4>\n<h4 id=\"Are\" tabindex=\"-1\">Are there any penalties for not complying with GDPR?<\/h4>\n<p>I chose to include this clip as\u00a0a lot of people\u00a0get truly scared by potential GDPR fines. But respecting GDPR is not as complicated as many would believe it so.<\/p>\n<div class=\"iframe-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"max-width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/q0A53NWGxgk\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<h4 id=\"How-long\" tabindex=\"-1\">How long can I keep the data for under GDPR?<\/h4>\n<p>This one refers to a new principle of personal data processing introduced by the new regulation, that is &#8220;storage limitation&#8221;. The storage limitation principle holds that you cannot keep the data longer that it&#8217;s necessary. But it doesn&#8217;t give you what that means.<\/p>\n<div class=\"iframe-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"max-width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HZngYs5uTGY\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>You cannot keep the data of your prospects forever. It violates GDPR. According to the regulation, you need to delete the personal data, once you don&#8217;t have a valid reason for processing it. As for cold <span id=\"urn:enhancement-4e234aa9\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">email<\/span> campaigns, you should remove your prospects&#8217; personal data from your contact list when they don&#8217;t reply to any of your <span id=\"urn:enhancement-93891517\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\">emails<\/span>. We recommend removing them after 30 days. But set any limit for yourself. Just be able to justify it.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"Should-I-be\" tabindex=\"-1\">Should I be afraid of GDPR?<\/h4>\n<p>There&#8217;s a lot of scares around GDPR. But should we be\u00a0worried?
